Belvedere indoor complex planned with Cg 7 million first-phase budget allocation
Education Minister Melissa Gumbs said Cg 7 million in the draft 2027 budget would fund land purchase and designs for a Belvedere complex.

Government has allocated Cg 7 million in the draft 2027 budget for the first phase of a proposed multifunctional indoor facility in Belvedere, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Minister Melissa Gumbs told Parliament. The funding is intended for land acquisition and architectural drawings and designs.
Gumbs said the proposed complex would serve sports, culture, youth, education and community activities. She said the 2027 allocation does not cover full construction and described it as the first phase of a larger development process.
The minister said the planning and design work would help determine construction requirements, operating costs and the overall scope of the project. She said it could also help position the project for financing through future national budgets, public-private partnerships and external funding opportunities.
Gumbs said the facility could host sporting competitions, youth programmes, community activities and educational initiatives. She said the planning stage would determine how cultural organisations, performing arts groups and other stakeholders could be included in the final concept.
