What we keep about you

Our host, Lovable, counts visits to every page. It sets a cookie named session-id that lasts 30 minutes, and records the page address, the page you came from, your browser, its language and your time zone. Cloudflare, which carries the site, may set a cookie that tells people from bots.

Your browser also keeps three of our settings, on your device only: light or dark mode, whether you closed the “install the app” prompt, and how the bill checker reads photos. We never see them.

We keep your email address, when and from which page you signed up, and when you confirmed. Nothing is sent until you click the link in the confirmation email. The newsletter is sent through Resend.

You can unsubscribe from any email with one click. We then keep the address marked “unsubscribed” so it is never mailed again; email us if you want it erased completely. To stop abuse, sign-up attempts are counted per connection under a scrambled code instead of your internet address, and the count is deleted after a day.

If you turn on alerts, your browser gives us an address to deliver them to, through your browser maker’s notification service. We keep that address, the topics you chose and your browser type, until you turn alerts off or the address stops working.

A photo you choose to read “on this device” never leaves your phone. A PDF, or a photo read on our server, is read and discarded: a photo, or a PDF whose own figures don’t add up, is sent to OpenAI to read the figures. We keep no copy.

Only if you choose to share your bill do we keep the rates and charges and your usage as a range — never your name, address, account or meter number. We keep the bill itself only if you tick that box, and an email address only if you give one. Only our staff can see a shared bill, and you get a link to delete it. Checks are counted per connection to stop abuse, the same way as newsletter sign-ups, and deleted after a day.

If you ask us to publish a death or public notice, we keep your name, how to reach you and your relationship to the notice, so we can check it. They are never published. Emails you send to news@sxmtoday.sx are kept as correspondence.

Lovable and Cloudflare run the website; Supabase holds our database and files; Resend sends the newsletter; OpenAI reads bills sent to our server.
