Gilles Carbon-Jno. Baptiste of Dominica’s North Agricultural Region was recognised on Thursday 15 October in the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations’ “100 FAO Women Heroes in Agrifood Systems and Rural Development” initiative, according to Dominica’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy. The ceremony took place at FAO headquarters in Rome during World Food Forum 2026.

FAO Director-General QU Dongyu presented the recognition in the organisation’s Plenary Hall, the ministry said. The ministry said the honour recognised Carbon-Jno. Baptiste’s contributions to agrifood systems and rural development.

The ministry congratulated Carbon-Jno. Baptiste and said the recognition drew attention to women’s participation and leadership in agricultural development and rural livelihoods.
