Dominica Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said on Tuesday 20 October that Dominica Social Security Director Janice Jean Jacques Thomas will receive a national award during the country’s Independence Day observances on Tuesday 3 November 2026.

Skerrit made the announcement while delivering the keynote address at the opening of the 34th Meeting of Heads of CARICOM Social Security Organisations, held at the InterContinental Dominica Cabrits Resort and Spa.

He credited the Dominica Social Security board, management and staff with strengthening the institution. Skerrit said its public engagement and efforts to make services more accessible had raised its profile and built confidence among the people it serves.

Skerrit described Thomas as “the real Social Security lady” and said the recognition reflected her contribution to the institution’s development.
