DUO to offer student-debt help in Sint Maarten from 23 to 27 November

DUO will assist former students in Sint Maarten with 2027 student-loan repayments, income details, arrears and account access.

A street curves past arcaded buildings and a small park, with cars driving and parked under a cloudy sky.

Former students with debt through DUO can seek help from the agency in Sint Maarten from Monday 23 November to Friday 27 November. DUO said staff will answer questions about 2027 repayment amounts, payment arrears, repayments in local currency and problems logging in to My DUO.

DUO said people with student-loan debt will receive a notification in November stating their monthly repayment amount for 2027. Former students whose calculation did not take account of their income can submit income information themselves. Depending on income, DUO said the monthly amount could be zero. It advised people visiting the service office to bring income statements for 2024 and 2025.

DUO is also planning information sessions in Sint Maarten for prospective students and parents about studying in the Netherlands. The sessions are being organised with Dutch universities of applied sciences, and Caribbean students already studying in the Netherlands will share their experiences, DUO said. Visit dates, venues, opening hours and session information are listed at duo.nl/bezoekcariben.
