ECAAM and SKOS launch two-year inclusive education pilot

Education, Consulting, Academic Advising and Mentoring (ECAAM) and the SKOS Catholic Education Foundation of St. Maarten are launching a two-year pilot, Project INSPIRE, to support students with Special Educational Needs and train teachers in inclusive education. According to ECAAM, the programme runs from Monday 28 September to Friday 2 October, with its formal launch on Wednesday 30 September at the SKOS Training Center in Philipsburg.

The launch ceremony is scheduled from 10am to 11:30am AST. ECAAM said the initiative will include school visits, classroom engagement and professional development sessions for educators.

Training will cover Special Educational Needs, inclusive education, adapted teaching methods and lesson planning, classroom management, and techniques for working with students with different learning needs, according to ECAAM. The organisation said the programme is intended to help teachers identify student needs and adjust classroom practice.

The launch will be livestreamed by Richie Ferrol Media Services, EmoNews and Dominica News Online, ECAAM said.
