Five coach-training courses planned before 2027 Special Olympics Kingdom Games

The Special Olympics Kingdom Games 2027 Organizing Committee said five sports training courses will be held in Sint Maarten on Saturday 24 October 14 and Sunday 15 November, ahead of the Kingdom Games in 2027. Coaches, trainers, sports officials, volunteers, healthcare professionals and others interested in supporting athletes with intellectual disabilities are invited to register.

The programme includes athletics, 7v7 football, unified softball, swimming and bocce. The committee said the courses are intended to help participants coach athletes with intellectual disabilities and support inclusive sports activities.

The committee is coordinating the programme with Special Olympics St. Maarten, Special Olympics Netherlands, the St. Maarten Sports Federation, the National Sports Institute, the Department of Sports and Thinc Ahead. Participants who complete a module will receive a certificate from the relevant Dutch sports federation, according to the committee.

Registration closes on Tuesday 3 November 2026. The committee said applicants must register through the official Special Olympics Kingdom Games website.
