Five operating room assistants graduate in Curaçao

Five operating room assistants have received diplomas in Curaçao, The Daily Herald reported, citing the Ministry of Health, Environment and Nature (GMN). GMN said the graduates are expected to help increase operating room capacity and improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare.

Minister Tyron Boekhoudt (MFK) congratulated the graduates at a certificate presentation ceremony, according to The Daily Herald. The ministry said this was the first group to complete the operating room assistant programme.

GMN said it is developing local healthcare workers and recruiting specialists in fields where the island lacks expertise. The ministry is working with medical institutions in Colombia to attract specialised physicians, The Daily Herald reported.

According to the government release cited by The Daily Herald, the assistant training forms part of a strategy to expand healthcare capacity and reduce waiting times.
