Employee organisations have agreed to submit documents and nominations for Social Economic Council appointments within two weeks, according to the Cabinet of Prime Minister Dr. Luc Mercelina. The Cabinet said it met with representatives of several employee organisations last week to explain the rules for nominations and appointments.

The Cabinet said unions must decide how to allocate the council’s three employee representative seats under the legal framework and representativity requirements. Government will assess the submissions and make appointments according to law, it said. Employer organisations have also been asked for information and nominations. The Cabinet said it plans to review submissions as a priority after receiving the required documents and legally compliant nominations.
