KPSM says driver evaded traffic control on A.Th. Illidge road
KPSM said a driver fled a traffic control on A.Th. Illidge road as officers carried out islandwide checks from 28 to 29 September.
Korps Politie Sint Maarten (KPSM) said a driver evaded officers during traffic and security controls that began on Monday 28 September and continued into the early hours of Tuesday 29 September.
According to KPSM, officers tried to stop a dark-coloured vehicle on A.Th. Illidge road after it was seen travelling from the direction of a fast-food establishment in Dutch Quarter. The driver increased speed and headed towards Mount William Hill. Officers began a pursuit but lost sight of the vehicle, KPSM said.
KPSM said controls were also held in Dutch Quarter, Cole Bay, Indigo Bay Round about, the Osborne Kruythoff Roundabout, Maho and the Cupecoy area. Officers stopped 24 vehicles and searched 34 people. No illegal weapons or controlled substances were found, according to KPSM.
The police said motorists are required to follow lawful instructions from officers and other authorised personnel during controls. KPSM said additional traffic and security controls will continue.
