Leann Richardson visits classrooms during Literacy Month

Senior Carnival Queen 2026 and Miss St. Maarten Leann Richardson visited classrooms during Literacy Month to read with students, The People's Tribune reported.

The newspaper reported that Richardson spoke with children about books, storytelling and creativity, and also joined a radio discussion encouraging young people to develop an interest in reading.

The radio discussion included the role of library access while growing up in St. Maarten and reading about the island's history and the wider region, according to The People's Tribune.

The People's Tribune reported that Richardson hopes young people will explore storytelling and other forms of creativity, and that more local authors will create work reflecting St. Maarten, its people, experiences and culture.
