Mental Health Foundation plans 25th anniversary street fair
The Mental Health Foundation will hold The Happiness Event in Cay Hill on Friday 9 October to mark its 25th anniversary.

The Mental Health Foundation will hold “The Happiness Event”, a community street fair marking its 25th anniversary, on Friday 9 October from 3pm to 7pm AST at its headquarters on Leopard Road #1 in Cay Hill, according to MHF. The foundation said the event is also being held for World Mental Health Day.
MHF said the fair will include a live DJ, information booths from community partners, children’s activities, food and beverage vendors, special guests and free raffle prizes. MHF staff and clients will be available to provide information about the foundation and its services.
The foundation is also launching its “Show Us Your Happy” social media contest. MHF said members of the public can post Facebook images of places and things that make them happy from Monday 5 October through World Mental Health Day on Saturday 10 October, using the hashtag #myhappysxm. A Samsung Galaxy A07 donated by law firm BZSE is the grand prize.
MHF said it was founded by the Government of St. Maarten on 10 October 2001 as a psychiatric crisis response facility. Its services have expanded to include therapy, day treatment, short- and long-stay care, a mobile crisis response team and four community wellness offices. The foundation said emergency mental health support is available through its crisis support line at 721-585-5556.
