More than 90 attend succession land townhall in Great Bay

More than 90 residents attended a townhall on succession land at PMIA Hall in Great Bay on Thursday evening, The People’s Tribune reported. Attorney Valya Pantophlet and Kadaster of Sint Maarten gave presentations and answered questions from attendees about undivided family estates and heirs’ rights.

Member of Parliament Darryl York presented his legislative initiative to amend Civil Code rules on long undivided estates, according to The People’s Tribune. Attendees offered feedback based on their family situations, which York said would inform the draft before it is submitted to Parliament.

York also said he would hold a second townhall for people unable to attend the first session and for attendees with further questions, The People’s Tribune reported.
