The Sint Maarten Yacht Club will host the 30th Caribbean Dinghy Championship in Simpson Bay from Thursday 22 October to Sunday 25 October, according to the club. The Caribbean Sailing Association has sanctioned the regatta.
The club said 70 competitors from nine countries will sail 53 boats in seven classes: Optimist, RS Quest, RS Zest, ILCA 4, ILCA 6, ILCA 7 and Sun Fast 20. The countries represented are Antigua, St. Kitts and Nevis, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, the Bahamas, St. Vincent, Grenada, the British Virgin Islands and Sint Maarten.
Individual sailors will receive rankings, while each country will also compete for the Nations Cup. The yacht club said each nation’s final Nations Cup score will be based on its five highest-scoring classes.
The championship was first held in 1985. Antigua hosted the 2025 edition and is the defending Nations Cup champion, according to the yacht club.
