Perry Geerlings named Sint Maarten member of Financial Supervision Boards

721 News reported that the Kingdom Council of Ministers approved the nomination of Perry F.M. Geerlings to serve on the Boards of Financial Supervision for Curaçao and Sint Maarten, known as the Cft. Geerlings was nominated by Sint Maarten and is due to begin a three-year term on 1 October.

According to 721 News, Geerlings is a member of the Corporate Governance Council of Sint Maarten, an independent advisory council that supervises governance at state-owned companies and foundations. The outlet reported that he previously served as Sint Maarten’s Finance Minister, a member of Parliament and director of the cabinet of Sint Maarten’s plenipotentiary minister, and held positions in the financial sector.

721 News reported that Geerlings will succeed Julisa Frans, who is to be honourably discharged as Sint Maarten’s Cft member on 1 October. The outlet described the boards as independent bodies that monitor the public finances of Curaçao and Sint Maarten and have signalling and advisory roles.
