Police issue eight traffic fines on Saba and St. Eustatius

Police checked 30 vehicles during traffic controls on Saba and St. Eustatius on Tuesday 29 September, issuing eight fines.

Police issued three fines during a planned traffic control on Samuel A. Charles Street near the police station in The Bottom, Saba, on Tuesday 29 September. The control ran from 3pm to 4:15pm AST, and police checked 18 vehicles.

The three fines were issued for failure to wear the mandatory seatbelt, police said. A police report was filed for each violation.

On St. Eustatius, police checked 12 vehicles during a traffic control on Father van Tefelenweg at about 2:06pm AST on Tuesday 29 September. Five drivers were fined, police said.

Four fines were issued for failure to wear the mandatory seatbelt. One driver was fined for failing to produce a driver’s licence upon first request. Police said a report was filed for each violation.
