Schedules list 802 September flights into SXM, nearly half from St. Barth
FlightConnections’ September schedules list 802 arriving flights at Princess Juliana International Airport from 42 airports in 23 countries, The People’s Tribune reported.
Published schedules for September list 802 flights arriving at Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA) this month, about 27 a day, The People’s Tribune reported on Wednesday, 23 September, drawing on the flight database FlightConnections. The schedules show direct service to SXM from 42 airports in 23 countries, flown by 25 airlines.
Most of that traffic is regional. St. Barth accounts for 387 scheduled arrivals, by far the busiest route, followed by Anguilla with 50, Saba with 48, St. Eustatius and Tortola with 37 each, and Curaçao with 28. St. Barth and Anguilla together make up about 54 percent of September arrivals, the newspaper said. FlightConnections lists Winair on 16 routes into SXM, more than any other airline. Amsterdam, about 6,930 km away, remains the longest nonstop route.
The Tribune noted that September falls in the island’s slower tourism season, and that FlightConnections’ count of airports does not exactly match the airport’s own. PJIA’s official figures show passenger traffic rose from 1.6 million in 2024 to 1.8 million in 2025, and aircraft movements from 59,858 to 64,610, an eight percent rise. Regional Caribbean passenger traffic grew 9.5 percent, Europe 9 percent, South America 9 percent, Canada 8 percent and North America 7.3 percent.
