St Maarten racers win two classes at Grenada International Drags

St Maarten racers won two classes at the King Ocean Services Grenada International Drags, held on Saturday 26 September and Sunday 27 September at Pearls International Speedway in St Andrew, Grenada, according to the St. Maarten Drag Racing Association (SXMDRA). Sebastien Baronnier won the 11-second class in an Audi RS7 known as “Twin Trouble”, while Humbert Flanders won the 12-second class in the Monte Carlo “Dutty”.

The St Maarten delegation included six cars and one motorcycle. Raphael Borelli placed third in the 11-second class with the Audi TTRS “Blackie”. Luciean Benscop reached the quarter-finals in the 9-second bike class, while Roberts Carty exited in the third round of the 14-second class after recording a 13.78-second run that resulted in a breakout, SXMDRA said.

Flemming withdrew his Ford Mustang “Nemesis” from the 11-second class because of mechanical issues. Jame Richardson drove “King Kruger” in the Outlaw class, but had no opponent for an elimination race and instead made an exhibition pass, according to SXMDRA.

SXMDRA said 106 cars representing 26 countries and territories took part in the wider competition. Member of Parliament Dimar Labega congratulated the association and racers in Parliament, according to the report.
