Statia Utility Company (STUCO) began island-wide water rationing on Sunday 11 October, disconnecting water service nightly from 8pm to 5am AST. The utility said the measure is intended to replenish tank levels after reduced production capacity left two of its four water plants out of service.

STUCO said the temporary rationing is expected to remain in place for two days. Its technical team is working on an issue affecting one of its larger plants, while a smaller plant was taken out of service for installation of a new water plant. The utility said it will provide updates when more information is available.
