Tamara Leonard, founder of St. Maarten-based TamLeo Books, read her children’s book Does My Belly Have a Brain? with students at Miami Springs Elementary School in Florida on Tuesday 20 October.

According to TamLeo Books, Leonard took part in The Education Fund’s 2026-2027 Teach-A-Thon with Mercedes Pacheco’s third-grade gifted class. The book was created in St. Maarten and was inspired by the experiences of local children, TamLeo Books said.

The classroom session included activities on intuition, integrity, kindness and making thoughtful decisions, according to TamLeo Books.

Leonard said the visit gave her an opportunity to share a St. Maarten-created story with students in an American classroom.
