Anguilla says.ai domain demand has not fallen after US “super intelligence” push
Anguilla’s IT minister said on 12 October that.ai domain demand remains strong despite a US move to use “super intelligence.”

Anguilla’s Minister responsible for Information Technology, José Vanterpool, said on Monday 12 October that the territory had no reason to believe a United States move to use the term “super intelligence” posed an immediate threat to its.ai internet domain industry. Vanterpool said sales of.ai domains increased in September compared with August.
Vanterpool said the.ai extension was already an established brand among technology companies, artificial-intelligence developers and startups. He said companies that had invested in.ai websites, branding and marketing were unlikely to abandon those addresses solely because of a terminology change.
Premier Cora Richardson-Hodge said in September that domain registrations generated about EC$217 million, equivalent to US$80 million, in the first seven months of 2026. That was about 47.5% of government revenue collected in that period and exceeded the EC$203 million collected in taxes from the productive sector, according to the figures cited.
The government has projected about EC$253 million in domain-registration revenue for 2026. Vanterpool said increased interest in Slovenia’s.si domain did not necessarily mean Anguilla was losing.ai customers, as businesses may register more than one domain name.
