Camillo Bakhuis has been appointed to lead The Windward Islands Bank, WIB, in St. Maarten and is expected to take up the post on Sunday 1 November. He will succeed Country Manager Daisy Tyrol-Carolus at the bank’s Philipsburg operation.

Bakhuis, 53, has more than two decades of financial-sector experience, including 13 years with Maduro & Curiel’s Bank, MCB, in Curaçao. He is statutory director of Gi-Ro Settlement Holding, which manages the settlement of the former Girobank portfolio.

His previous roles include General Manager of MCB Group’s Central Retail Collection Unit, Manager of Personal Accounts and Collection, and Manager of Credit Operations. He also held a management role at Stichting Belastingaccountantsbureau before joining MCB.

The final months of 2026 are expected to serve as a transition period, with Tyrol-Carolus guiding Bakhuis through the handover before her retirement at year-end. Tyrol-Carolus became WIB’s first female Country Manager in 2023 and has more than 30 years of financial-sector experience in Curaçao and the Dutch Caribbean.
