The Centrale Bank van Curaçao en Sint Maarten (CBCS) held its fourth annual fintech conference in Curaçao on Friday 30 October. CBCS said the sold-out event brought together international speakers to discuss stablecoins, tokenization, digital payments, digital assets, regulation and supervision.
CBCS acting president Ference Lamp said trust is the foundation for meaningful and sustainable financial innovation. The bank said the conference considered how international fintech developments could apply in Curaçao and Sint Maarten.
According to CBCS, discussions on stablecoins included reserves, liquidity, customer-asset protection and cybersecurity. Sessions on tokenization considered digitally representing assets, transactions, investment opportunities, regulation and practical use.
CBCS said digital financial services can cross national borders, making collaboration among supervisors, policymakers, financial institutions and technology companies important.
