Statia delegates join renewable energy workshop in St. Kitts and Nevis
Two St. Eustatius officials shared solar and battery-storage experience during a regional workshop on 27 and 28 October.

Government of St. Eustatius representatives Nikima Hickinson and Maldwyn Timber took part in a regional renewable energy workshop in St. Kitts and Nevis on Tuesday 27 October and Wednesday 28 October. Hickinson is Deputy Island Secretary, while Timber is Senior Policy Advisor for Economy, Nature and Infrastructure.
The workshop examined preliminary findings of St. Kitts and Nevis’ 100% Renewable Energy Transition Roadmap. Participants discussed technical, financial and regulatory issues in shifting small island electricity systems away from imported fossil fuels while maintaining reliable supply.
Sessions covered proposals for solar energy, battery storage, electricity-network improvements and geothermal energy. Statia shared its experience integrating solar power and battery storage into its electricity network.
The Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Energy and Utilities of St. Kitts and Nevis organised the workshop with the United Nations Development Programme and the Greening the Islands Foundation through the European Union-funded EUROCLIMA programme.
