COCI submits proposal for electronic voting and longer election hours
COCI has submitted a proposal to TEATT Minister Grisha Heyliger-Marten to introduce electronic voting and extend Chamber election hours.

The St. Maarten Chamber of Commerce & Industry, COCI, has submitted a proposed National Decree Containing General Measures to TEATT Minister Grisha Heyliger-Marten. According to COCI, the proposal would introduce electronic voting for Chamber elections and extend voting hours until 3:30pm AST.
COCI said draft amendments to the National Ordinance on the Establishment and Organization of the St. Maarten Chamber of Commerce & Industry would provide the legal basis for the changes. The proposed decree would set procedures, responsibilities and operational requirements for an electronic voting system.
COCI said any electronic voting system would be selected through open and fair procurement procedures, with oversight and compliance requirements. The Chamber said the proposal still requires legislative consideration and government decisions before electronic voting or longer election hours can take effect.
