Foundation poured for new Soualiga Marketplace on Pond Island

Soualiga Newsday reported that the foundation and floor slab for the new Soualiga Marketplace were poured on Pond Island on Thursday. Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication Grisha Heyliger-Marten attended the event, which the outlet reported moves the project from preparatory work into construction.

According to Soualiga Newsday, the Ministry of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication (TEATT) said materials needed for the following construction work are on island. The planned marketplace is to include accessibility, infrastructure, pedestrian-movement and public-facility upgrades for local vendors.

Soualiga Newsday reported that TEATT asked motorists and pedestrians to follow barriers, signs and traffic directions around the site. The ministry said parking on sidewalks or in restricted construction zones is prohibited and may result in enforcement action, including towing.
