Government says materials are on island for Soualiga Marketplace construction

Government of Sint Maarten says major materials for the next stages of the Soualiga Marketplace reconstruction are now on island. The 27 September release adds that information to earlier reporting on Thursday’s foundation and floor-slab pour, which Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication Grisha Heyliger-Marten attended.

According to the government, the work moves the project from preparation into full construction, and the public will begin to see the structure take shape in the weeks ahead. It said the project had required design coordination, technical reviews, permits, contract administration and financing before construction advanced.

TEATT said activity at and around the site will increase. The ministry again asked motorists and pedestrians to follow barriers, signs and traffic directions, saying parking on sidewalks or in restricted construction zones is prohibited and may lead to enforcement action, including towing.
