Lions District 60B Governor Hyacinth Jeremiah visited St. Maarten on Tuesday 6 October, meeting Governor Ajamu Baly, President of Parliament Sarah Wescot-Williams and Prime Minister Dr. Luc Mercelina, according to the St. Maarten Lions Club.

Jeremiah said the club could share its practices with other Lions clubs in the region. His visit included Lions clubs in St. Maarten, St. Eustatius, Saba and Anguilla, which make up Zone 2B of the district.

The club’s president, Elton Richardson, said Lions and Leos discussed planned activities for the 2026-2027 Lions year with Jeremiah. Lions Clubs International lists vision, hunger, youth, environmental protection, diabetes, cancer awareness and humanitarian assistance among the areas discussed.

Jeremiah said district-governor visits review club performance, objectives and service projects. He also identified financial support, membership and technological changes as challenges for service organisations.

The club said its fundraising activities include the Wally Havertong Lions Christmas Bingo Spectacular and the Father’s Day Car Raffle. It said revenue from both events finances its community service projects.
