Marco Aalbers publishes English-language Sint Maarten tax guide

Tax specialist Marco Aalbers has published an English-language guide to Sint Maarten’s tax system. The book, The Tax System of Sint Maarten: Principles, Practice and International Context, is available at Van Dorp in Simpson Bay.

Aalbers, founder of Aalbers Private Tax Advisory, said the book is intended to make local tax legislation easier to use for English-speaking people and businesses. It covers income tax, profit tax, wage tax, turnover tax and social premiums, along with Sint Maarten’s tax arrangements within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Aalbers said he drew on his work as a tax inspector with the St. Maarten Tax Administration and as a tax advisor at PwC Dutch Caribbean. The publication is aimed mainly at business owners, investors and people relocating to Sint Maarten, and is also intended as a reference for accountants, lawyers, notaries, bankers, real estate agents and students.
