Princess Juliana International Airport said on Friday 16 October that it had met with the St. Maarten Airlines and Handlers Association to review operations ahead of the 2026/2027 tourism high season.

According to PJIA, the discussions covered airline schedules, self-service facilities, gate allocation, aircraft fueling, signage, curbside check-in, parking and Air Traffic Services. The airport said the parties discussed coordination, communication and resource planning during periods with multiple aircraft and passenger movements.

SAHA President Patrick Stevens, Vice President June Douglas and PJIA management and operational teams attended the meeting, the airport said. Orvelle Hughes, station manager of Menzies Aviation St. Maarten, also participated.

PJIA said it and SAHA agreed to maintain regular dialogue on operational concerns as preparations continue. The airport said it directly employs more than 330 people and supports a wider airport community of more than 1,700 people, including airline employees, concessionaires and service providers.
