St. Maarten-St. Martin team named for Taste of the Caribbean contest
SHTA named four competitors and coach Renata de Weever for the mid-November Taste of the Caribbean contest in Barbados.

The St. Maarten Hospitality and Trade Association said on Thursday 22 October that Senior Chef Jewel Daal, Pastry Chef Djaya Coupey, Junior Chef Jamal Dormoy and bartender Erion Peterson will represent St. Maarten-St. Martin at Taste of the Caribbean in Barbados.
SHTA said Renata de Weever, who competed in the event in 2017, will coach the team. The association announced the roster at its mixer at Kooyman.
According to SHTA, this will be the first St. Maarten-St. Martin team in the competition since 2017. The contest is scheduled for mid-November at Sam Lord’s Castle in Barbados.
SHTA said the team had begun training at Daal’s TJ Cassava Coal Pot restaurant. Peterson presented three competition cocktail entries at the Kooyman event for attendee feedback, the association said.
SHTA named the Office de Tourisme and St. Maarten Tourism Bureau as supporting entities. It said Winair will take the team to Barbados.
