WIB gives Cg 5,000 to breast cancer foundations

Windward Islands Bank (WIB) said it donated Cg 5,000 to the Positive Foundation and Elektralyets Foundation for breast cancer awareness, education and support for people affected by the disease.

The bank said the contribution was part of its Breast Cancer Awareness Month activities, which included an educational session for female employees with breast cancer survivor and advocate Yolanda Jackson-Martina. Representatives of both foundations also took part.

WIB said Jackson-Martina encouraged women to seek professional advice if they notice changes in their bodies and to maintain regular medical checkups. The foundations provided information about their outreach, awareness campaigns and support services, according to the bank.

WIB also encouraged women to attend a Free Breast Screening and Open House scheduled at St. Maarten Medical Center on Saturday 31 October, from 9am to 2pm AST. The medical centre and its partners are organising the event, WIB said.
