STAT develops publication calendar and seeks better data sharing

STAT says it is developing a calendar for statistical releases while working with data providers on timelier official figures.

On Thursday 29 October, the Department of Statistics (STAT) said it was working with government departments, public entities, businesses and other data providers to improve the quality, timeliness and availability of official statistics for St. Maarten. STAT said it is developing a Statistical Publication Calendar that will show when publications and key indicators are expected.

STAT said much of its statistical information relies on data supplied by other organisations. The department said it is seeking clearer data-sharing arrangements, more consistent definitions, classifications and methodologies, and greater use of administrative data alongside surveys.

STAT said it will continue engaging stakeholders on priority data needs and data flows. It said St. Maarten's small population should be considered to avoid repeatedly asking the same people to take surveys, a problem it called survey fatigue.

STAT representatives are participating in a CARICOM regional statistical meeting during the week of 26 October 2026, according to the department.
