President of Parliament Sarah A. Wescot-Williams took part in a meeting with her counterparts from Aruba and Curaçao on Monday 26 October in Tenerife, Spain, according to the Parliament of Sint Maarten. The meeting was held while the three presidents were attending Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly meetings in Tenerife from 26 to 29 October.
President of the Parliament of Curaçao Fergino Brownbill chaired and hosted the meeting, which also included President of the Parliament of Aruba Alfred Marlon Sneek. Parliament said the presidents discussed cooperation between parliamentary committees, constitutional affairs, decolonisation and updates to their rules of order.
The meeting followed the restart of the Tripartite Presidents’ Meeting in Sint Maarten in 2025, Parliament said. The presidents also discussed participation in Parlatino and ParlAmericas, parliamentary independence, codes of conduct, training for Members of Parliament and exchanges among parliamentary staff.
The three presidents agreed on areas for future collaboration. Parliament said Sneek will host the next Tripartite Presidents’ Meeting in Aruba in 2027.
