Arrindell meets Uruguay ambassador to discuss cooperation
Government says Minister Plenipotentiary Gracita R. Arrindell met Uruguay’s ambassador to discuss tourism, trade and digital cooperation.

Government of Sint Maarten says Minister Plenipotentiary Gracita R. Arrindell hosted a courtesy visit by H.E. Álvaro Enrique González Otero, Ambassador of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
According to the government, the meeting covered possible cooperation in tourism, trade and investment, sustainability and the digital economy. It said both sides expressed interest in identifying opportunities to connect businesses, government institutions and knowledge organisations.
The government said González Otero has served as Uruguay’s ambassador since July 2022. It described Uruguay as an open, export-oriented economy and said its goods exports reached about US$13.49 billion in 2025, the highest level of the past decade.
Government said Uruguay is focusing on value-added production, logistics, technology, sustainable development and international services. The Cabinet of the Minister Plenipotentiary said it looks forward to further engagement with Uruguay on economic and diplomatic cooperation involving Sint Maarten and the wider Caribbean region.
