Civil servants get Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve off

The Council of Ministers approved two full days off for civil servants for the rest of 2026, on Thursday 24 December and Thursday 31 December, according to Government.

Government said the days off are subject to service needs. Civil servants in essential services or departments that must remain operational will receive specific working arrangements from their management teams.

Government said any additional days off outside 24 and 31 December will depend on employees’ remaining vacation days and whether service permits.
