AUC breast screening event held at Vineyard building

AUC’s breast and health screening event examined 32 participants on Saturday 3 October, according to DCOMM.

Thirty-two participants received clinical breast examinations at an American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine breast and health screening event on Saturday 3 October at the Vineyard building, according to DCOMM. Oncologist Dr. Naira Chobanyan performed the examinations and provided breast-health guidance. Prime Minister Dr. Luc Marcelina visited the event.

AUC medical students and fellows provided health screenings and information on breast cancer risk factors, prevention and early detection, DCOMM said. Clinical Medicine Fellow Dr. Ezra Hypolite coordinated the event. DCOMM said 780 local women have been screened through AUC breast health initiatives to date.

DCOMM described the event as a collaboration involving AUC, Collective Preventive Services, Positive Foundation and Electrolyte Foundations.
