RAPP said its third annual Caribbean Journalism Seminar 2026 ran from Friday 25 September to Sunday 27 September. The programme examined artificial intelligence under the theme “Innovations & AI in Journalism.”

According to RAPP, the programme included presentations, discussions and two workshops on using AI in journalism. It covered information processing, data verification, new formats and newsroom efficiency, alongside reliability, privacy, transparency, editorial responsibility and protecting sources.

Digital Strategist and Developer Rodolfo Rodriguez demonstrated uses of Claude. Vincent Smit, editor-in-chief of Dutch outlet 1Almere, spoke about “vibe coding” in newsrooms. Noel Algarín-Martínez of Puerto Rico’s Centro de Periodismo Investigativo addressed AI ethics and human judgement.

On Saturday 26 September, Chief Automation Officer Laurens Ras led an AI Essentials for Journalists workshop on configuring ChatGPT and Claude around participants’ work, sources and writing style. On Sunday 27 September, Smit led a workshop on developing journalistic ideas into working prototypes without previous programming experience.

RAPP said journalists and newsrooms using AI remain responsible for information they publish.
