Audit Chamber says Road Fund objection procedure remains open
The General Audit Chamber told Parliament on Thursday 22 October that its Road Fund objection procedure remains unresolved.

The General Audit Chamber told Parliament on Thursday 22 October that its formal objection procedure concerning the Road Fund remains open. Secretary General Keith de Jong said the Chamber had suspended the procedure after receiving a government corrective plan, but had not concluded that its concerns were resolved.
De Jong said the Chamber will meet with the responsible minister on Friday 23 October, then assess the information received and decide whether further action is needed. The Chamber raised concerns about the pace of implementation and whether compliance problems had been addressed. Government has included Cg 9 million for road and infrastructure investments in its 2027 capital budget, including Cg 3.5 million expected through the Road Fund.
During the Central Committee presentation of the Chamber's 2025 Annual Report, chairman Alphons Gumbs said the Chamber had not received government financial statements for 2023 and 2024. De Jong said the latest government statements audited by the Chamber were for 2022.
The Chamber also discussed its audits of building permits, climate-change response, personal-data protection, Tax Administration experiences and the General Pension Fund APS. It said the legally required committee to oversee personal-data protection has not been established and that it plans to meet with the Minister of Justice on its recommendations.
Gumbs said the Chamber has five audits under way. Three reports were published in 2026, on air-quality monitoring, the reliability of statistics, and the governance and financial management of the Minister Plenipotentiary's Cabinet.
