Carnival Corporation said its deployment schedules indicate double-digit growth in cruise capacity for Bonaire between 2025 and 2027. Marie McKenzie, the company’s Senior Vice President of Government and Destination Affairs, presented the outlook at the annual Bonaire Tourism Summit on Thursday 24 September at the Van der Valk Plaza Beach Resort.

Seven Carnival-operated cruise lines are expected to visit Bonaire in 2027, according to the company. McKenzie said cooperation with destination partners would be needed for the projected growth to support responsible tourism development.

Carnival said increased cruise activity could create opportunities for local businesses through shore excursions, transportation, restaurants, retail outlets and cultural attractions. The company listed climate action, the circular economy, sustainable tourism, biodiversity and conservation, and well-being, inclusion and belonging among its sustainability priorities.

Carnival said its initiatives include reducing food waste, developing shore-power connection capabilities, producing freshwater onboard, supporting reforestation, partnering with local organisations and educating passengers about responsible tourism.
