Civil servants are expected to receive a 2.5% salary indexation and retroactive payments from January 2026 in the October payroll on Friday 23 October, Finance Minister Marinka Gumbs said.

Gumbs said the indexation and back pay were provided for in the 2026 Budget and that the administrative process had been completed. She said government intends to pay the October payroll on Friday because the regular payment date, 25 October, falls on a Sunday 18 October.

Gumbs gave the information in responses to Member of Parliament Sarah Wescot-Williams during Parliament's handling of the draft 2027 national budget. Wescot-Williams asked whether the 2026 indexation had been paid and whether the 2027 Budget included another salary adjustment.

She said projected higher personnel expenditure relates to other costs, including filling budgeted vacancies and existing staffing obligations.
