Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labor Claret Connor met Frans Weekers of the Trust Fund Steering Committee, Sint Maarten Trust Fund representative Ronald Halman and other Kingdom partners to discuss the Mental Health Project. The meeting was held ahead of Trust Fund Steering Committee meetings scheduled on Sint Maarten in the week of 26 October.

According to Connor, the discussions covered the project’s development and priorities, including mental health service delivery, institutional capacity and infrastructure. Connor was joined by Ministry of VSA and Cabinet staff.

“Mental health is an essential part of public health, and strengthening our mental health care system requires sustained commitment and collaboration,” Connor said. He said the focus should remain on residents having continued and uninterrupted access to care, support and services.

Connor also acknowledged the Trust Fund partnership and other stakeholders involved in the project.
