Doran criticises Tackling’s tone during Parliament exchange
MP Egbert Doran accused Justice Minister Nathalie Tackling of condescension during a Parliament debate on training and tourist police.

Member of Parliament Egbert Doran accused Justice Minister Nathalie Tackling of condescending behaviour during a Parliament exchange on military-style training and a proposed tourist police force. Doran said Tackling had confused his position with proposals made by other MPs.
Doran said he was proposing basic military training for young adults, rather than the Social Formation Program. He said the training could also provide education, technical skills and personal development, and said ministers and opposition MPs should work toward solutions despite their disagreements.
Doran said the Chair agreed that the meeting was not the setting for a wider political debate. Tackling later said the National Alliance faction had directed condescension and disrespect at her while she was answering Parliament.
