Government Constitution Day message cites resilience and social concerns
On Sunday 11 October, Government of Sint Maarten marked Constitution Day with a message on resilience, public services and youth opportunities.

Government of Sint Maarten marked Constitution Day on Sunday 11 October with a message describing the country’s shared identity, responsibility and resilience. Government said Sint Maarten became a country within the Kingdom 16 years ago.
In the message, Government said natural disasters, rising costs, pressure on public services, insecurity among seniors and limited opportunities for youth are among the country’s vulnerabilities. It also said healthcare, education and the justice chain need strengthening.
Government said the country’s future depends on resilient infrastructure, sustainable tourism, renewable energy, digital transformation, stronger public finances and a more diversified economy. It said government should use every guilder responsibly and called on businesses, civil society, churches, schools, families and citizens to play a role.
