NOW MP Lyndon Lewis marked Prison Week on Wednesday 7 October, praising prison personnel and calling for staff support.

Nation Opportunity Wealth (NOW) Member of Parliament Lyndon Lewis, chairman of Parliament’s Justice Committee, congratulated Sint Maarten prison personnel for Prison Week on Wednesday 7 October, according to a statement from Lewis. He named correctional officers, administrative staff and support personnel involved with Point Blanche Prison and House of Detention and the Lalie Youth Detention Center.
Lewis, a former Minister of Justice and law enforcement officer, said prison personnel help maintain security, ensure humane treatment and support rehabilitation. He said their work requires discipline, patience, courage, professionalism and sacrifice.
Lewis said Prison Week should also be a reminder to support prison staff through fair treatment, safe working conditions, adequate resources and attention to their welfare. He said he would advocate for justice workers and encouraged prison personnel to serve with integrity, unity and pride.
