On Wednesday 21 October, Minister of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure Patrice Gumbs said government put funding into the Billy Folly Road upgrades under a Private-Public Partnership. He said developers are paying for two other PPPs as government faces financial limits, including at the Ministry of VROMI.

According to Gumbs, developers will fund and carry out rehabilitation work at Simpsonbay Dock, as well as repairs to the Rolandus Canal and bridges in Suckergarden. Government’s role is to approve designs and provide project support and oversight where needed, he said.

Gumbs said the latest PPP focuses on Suckergarden. He said the ministry is also working on revenue generation.
