Nine BKCN firefighters complete first stage of driver training
Nine BKCN firefighters completed the first stage of driver training on Bonaire on Friday 9 October, with pump-operator classes next.
Nine firefighters from the Caribbean Netherlands Fire Department, BKCN, completed the first part of a fire service driver training course on Bonaire on Friday 9 October, BKCN said. The two-week course was completed by five firefighters from Bonaire, three from St. Eustatius and one from Saba.
The second part, for pump operators, is scheduled for October. BKCN said it will first be available on St. Eustatius and then on Bonaire in November. Pump operators are responsible for getting fire engines to the correct location safely and quickly, and for operating pumps and other firefighting equipment during an operation.
Participants who complete both parts will receive a Fire Service Driver and Vehicle Operator diploma from the Netherlands Institute for Public Safety.
