The Government of Sint Maarten says Colorado State University’s Department of Atmospheric Science forecasts below-normal storm formation activity for the next two weeks. The forecast was dated Wednesday 30 September, according to the Government.

Government says eight named storms, Arthur, Bertha, Cristobal, Dolly, Edouard, Fay, Gonzalo and Hanna, have formed this season and none reached hurricane strength. It says the season has recorded zero hurricanes to date.

The Office of Disaster Management urged residents and businesses to monitor forecasts from the Meteorological Department of St. Maarten and to prepare regardless of seasonal outlooks. Government says preparedness resources, including its Hurricane Season Readiness Guide and Hurricane Tracking Chart, are available through its hurricane webpage.

Government listed Isaias, Josephine, Kyle, Leah, Marco, Nana, Omar, Paulette, Rene, Sally, Teddy, Vicky and Wilfred as the remaining 2026 storm names. It also directed residents to SXMGOV 107.9FM and the @SXMGOV Facebook page for official information and national addresses before, during and after a hurricane.
