Perry Geerlings to join CFT as St Maarten member on 1 October

The Daily Herald reported that the Kingdom Council of Ministers approved the nomination of former Finance Minister Perry Geerlings to serve as St Maarten’s member of the Committee for Financial Supervision for Curaçao and St Maarten, or CFT. The appointment, made on St Maarten’s recommendation, is due to take effect on 1 October and run for three years.

Geerlings will succeed Julisa Frans, who will receive an honourable discharge effective 1 October, according to The Daily Herald. The CFT supervises the soundness of public finances in Curaçao and St Maarten and has signalling and advisory roles.

The Daily Herald said Geerlings is a member of St Maarten’s Corporate Governance Council, an independent advisory council for government-owned companies and foundations. He previously served as Minister of Finance, a Member of Parliament and director of the Cabinet of the Minister Plenipotentiary of St Maarten, and has held posts in the financial sector.
