Thirty seniors attended a free online safety workshop organised by Foresee Foundation with Leaders for Change and senior organisations on Saturday 31 October. Cybersecurity expert Erik Jan Koedijk led the “Feel Safe Online!” session at the Foresee Foundation Impact Hub.

Koedijk discussed suspicious messages, fraudulent phone calls and requests for money, as well as ways to protect personal information. He advised participants to use strong, different passwords for each account, enable two-factor authentication, take care with links and information requests, and keep phones and applications updated.

“Cybercrime doesn’t discriminate by age, and neither should cybersecurity education. Everyone deserves to feel safe and confident online,” Koedijk said.

Koedijk is travelling through the Caribbean for his cybersecurity business and volunteers during those trips to give free workshops for young people and seniors, according to Foresee Foundation. The foundation thanked Koedijk, Frances Rovelet and Ashma Berkel for their roles in organising the session and reaching participants.
